Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe
Bryant on Sunday chided a fan on Twitter for using “gay” as an
insult.
Bryant, 34, responded to @PacSmoove's
“you're gay” tweet: “Just letting you know @PacSmoove @pooke09
that using 'your gay' as a way to put someone down ain't ok!
#notcool delete that out ur vocab.”
In 2011, NBA Commissioner David Stern
fined the five-time NBA champion $100,000 for calling a referee at a
game a “fucking faggot.” The incident prompted the Lakers to
film a Public Service Announcement (PSA) about not using “gay” in
a derogatory manner.
Another user, Steven Madrigal
(@onepercentofone) reminded Bryant of the incident: “@kobebryant
@Pooke09 Come on Kobe...you called a ref a FAGGOT. Don't preach,
just win.”
“@onepercentofone @pooke09 exactly!
That wasn't cool and was ignorant on my part. I own it and learn
from it and expect the same from others,” Bryant responded.
