Comedian Hal Sparks stars in a new ad
for all-gay cabler Logo in which he knocks self-appointed patriots
who oppose equal rights for LGBT people.
The 43-year-old Sparks is best known
for playing Michael Novotny on Showtime's groundbreaking gay drama
Queer as Folk. He appears as a regular guest and fill-in host
on the Stephanie Miller Radio Show.
In the spot, Sparks says some people
don't understand what freedom means.
“You know 'freedom' is actually one
of my favorite words,” Sparks says, “especially when I hear
people yell it in movies wearing kilts.”
“But I noticed that a lot of the same
people who yell freedom a lot at rallies and whatnot are … pretty
much for freedom for anybody who looks exactly like me, basically
freedom for me and my reflection. Nice work kids. How does that
make sense?”
“Same country. Different rules.
Vote,” he adds. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
