Stephen Ira, the son of actors Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, has released a video in which he discusses transitioning.

In the video, the 20-year-old Ira answered questions submitted via the website WeHappyTrans.

“My name is Stephen,” he started. “I identify as a trans man, a faggy queen, a homosexual, a queer, a nerd fighter, a writer, an artist and guy who needs a haircut.”

When asked who has been most supportive of his decision to transition, Ira answered: “My friends, my peers who I'm lucky to have had relationships with since high school, which is when I came out.”

Ira also said he admires writer Truman Capote's style.

“My style icons by the way include Truman Capote with like the long nelly scarves and also any male-identified person who wears thigh-highs or garters – the world belongs to you,” he said.

Ira's trans roles models, he said, include the late activist Marsha P. Johnson.

“We as young trans people owe so much” to her, he said. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
