Mary Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, on Friday married her partner Heather Poe in Washington DC.

According to TheDC, a blog of the conservative website The Daily Caller, the couple married Friday morning.

“Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” Dick and Lynne Cheney said in a statement.

The couple lives in Virginia where they are raising their two children: 5-year-old Samuel David and 2-year-old Sarah Lynne. Mary Cheney gave birth to both children.

“Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” Dick and Lynne Cheney added. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.”
