Howard Stern has responded to Michele
Bachmann's accusations that he is attempting to pressure her into
accepting gay rights.
Stern last week chided Bachmann and
Rick Santorum for their vocal opposition to gay rights, calling
them “the worst two people on the planet.”
“It's unbelievable,” Stern said.
“I mean, come on, we got one shot at life. As far as I know, you
don't come back again. You want to make some 14-year-old girl kill
herself? What are you, fucking nuts?”
Bachmann hit back in an email to
supporters, calling Stern “not a serious person.”
“To conservatives, this message from
Howard Stern, a man whose only contribution to our culture was years
of corrupting America's youth on public airwaves, was clear: 'either
abandon your beliefs and agree with me, or be dragged through the mud
and demonized on national radio.' I don't accept this false choice,
and I know you don't either,” Bachmann wrote.
Bachmann added that she needed the help
of her supporters to counteract Stern with “our positive message.”
“We must fight back and maintain our
focus on what is important.”
“These are serious times, and our
nation faces serious issues. The direction that America is headed
requires serious discussion by serious people, and Howard Stern is
not a serious person,” she added.
Stern responded on Monday.
“Just read Michelle bachman's [sic]
comments,” Stern tweeted to his more than 1 million followers.
“Spoke with the lord a few minutes ago and he is on my side.”
“If thinking that gay people have a
right to happiness is corrupting America then I will continue
corrupting them.”
“Time to shun this woman,” he
added.
