Adam Levine, Chaz Bono and Zachary
Quinto are among the celebrities participating in an upcoming It Gets
Better special.
The It Get Better Project is a
collection of videos created by politicians, celebrities and everyday
folks urging bullied gay teens considering suicide to hang in there,
because life gets better.
Sex advice columnist, author and gay
activist Dan Savage and his partner, Terry Miller, founded It Gets
Better.
The 60-minute special will take a look
at the lives of three young gay people struggling with their
sexuality: a young man who has yet to come out to his family; a young
woman whose sexuality is not supported by her family; and a
transgender man preparing to marry.
“The lives of these three young
people will resonate with millions of teens – gay and straight –
who are being bullied for simply being themselves,” said Savage.
“It's so important they know that things get better and that living
openly and honestly and being who you are makes it better. They have
so many great moments ahead of them and they will do things they
never thought possible – so long as they keep fighting, stay
positive, and stay with us.”
The show will also include video
messages from Vinny Guadagnino, Dave Holmes, Adam Levine, Zachary
Quinto, Margaret Cho, Chaz Bono, Sia and Jake Shears.
Cablers MTV and Logo will broadcast the
60-minute special on Tuesday, February 21 at 11PM.
