Actress Aisha Tyler has doubled down on
her support for gay marriage, posing for the NOH8 Campaign and
recording a video for the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Americans for
Marriage Equality campaign.
The NOH8 Campaign is the silent protest
which raises awareness and funds for gay rights causes, including
ending California's 2008 voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition
8. The group is helmed by photographer-activist Adam
Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. The pair photograph
celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct taped and the
campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on one cheek.
In
her photo, Tyler crosses two fingers over her duct taped mouth.
The 41-year-old Tyler, a co-host of
CBS' The Talk, also recently
recorded an
HRC video urging Americans to support marriage equality.
“I'm married and my husband is
white,” Tyler, who is African-American, says in the 30-second
video. “But did you know that 40 or 50 years ago in many American
states it was illegal for black people and white people to marry?”
“Well now we have that same injustice
here in the United States, because gays can't marry each other in
many states. And I support marriage equality because I believe that
everybody should have the right to marry who they love.”
