Madonna has left open the possibility of recording a duet with Lady Gaga.

Madonna commented on Lady Gaga during a wide-ranging interview with ABC News' Cynthia McFadden.

The interview was being portioned out between various ABC properties. Nightlight broadcast a segment on Thursday and Good Morning America visited with the Queen of Pop on Friday.

During a segment aired Friday on 20/20, Madonna was asked if she thought Lady Gaga was ripping her off.

“I certainly think she references me a lot in her work,” Madonna said. “Sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well done. I can't really be annoyed by it or insulted by it, because obviously I've influenced her.”

“It doesn't feel like a rip off?” McFadden asked.

“No, because she's she and I'm me,” Madonna answered.

“Would you ever do a duet with her?”

“It hasn't occurred to me, but never say never.”

Madonna added that she thought Lady Gaga's Born This Way sounded “familiar” to her 1989 hit Express Yourself.

“It feels reductive,” Madonna said.

“Is that good?” McFadden asked.

“Look it up,” Madonna calmly answered.

For the record, McFadden noted, “reductive” means “simplified” or “crude.”
