Singer Lady Gaga on Wednesday announced that she is launching a new foundation aimed at ending bullying.
The 25-year-old Lady Gaga announced that the Born This Way Foundation would be launching some time next year.
“I'm proud to announce: my mommy + I have created the Born This Way Foundation,” she wrote on Facebook. “A place for Bravery, Love, Acceptance.”
The foundation is a partnership with The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
According to the Associated Press, the new group will focus on youth empowerment and “issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development.”
“Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment,” the pop singer said in a statement.
Lady Gaga has previously spoken out about the suicides of gay teens who were bullied to death.
