Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is the latest high-profile Democrat to create a video for the It Gets Better Project.

Gay activist, sex advice columnist and Rick Santorum agitator Dan Savage founded the It Gets Better Project to reach out to troubled LGBT teens who may be considering suicide because they feel alone or are being bullied or harassed at school. The videos offer a simple message: Hang in there because life gets better.

“I know what it's like to be different,” Patrick says in his 38-second video. “Whether it was in school or in my law firms, in different jobs in all kinds of settings – even as the first black governor of Massachusetts – I know what it's like to be different and to have folks sometimes around you who don't understand.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

Patrick joins a growing list of prominent Democratic leaders – including President Barack Obama – in joining the campaign. According to the It Gets Better Project no Republican has yet to record a video.

Last week, Massachusetts' entire Congressional delegation with the exception of Senator Scott Brown recorded an It Gets Better video.
