Bishop Harry Jackson has warned that gay marriage is part of “a Satanic plot to destroy our seed.”

Jackson, a minister at the Hope Christina Church in Belstville, Maryland, came to prominence fighting against the District of Columbia's gay marriage law, now in its second year. The Supreme Court recently announced without comment that it would not hear Jackson's challenge to a D.C. Court of Appeals ruling that upheld the city's right to prohibit a referendum on the issue from going to voters. Jackson and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) have said they will work with Congress to strike down the law.

Jackson also played a major role in lobbying against Maryland's effort to legalize the institution.

In an interview with Bradlee Dean of the anti-gay group You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministry, Jackson suggested that gay marriage is evil.

“I'm an African-American and I specially believe that what we're dealing with is a Satanic plot to destroy our seed,” Jackson said. “I think where we are now is that there is an issue of justice that's being perverted and we have a minority group, in a sense, that has decided that they are going to impose their will on the culture – by force – and redefine God's law.” (The video, provided by RightWingWatch.com, is embedded in the right panel of this page.)
