Singer Cyndi Lauper comes to the aid of a gay teen on Monday's episode of MTV's Made.

On the reality show about making dreams come true, Eli Medina meets his idol, Cyndi Lauper.

“I wanted to touch her face and just make sure she wasn't a hologram,” a thrilled Medina says.

Lauper sits down with Medina to talk about his strained relationship with his mother.

The pop star wannabe moved out of his parent's home at the age of 18 because his mother disagreed with his sexuality.

“Sometimes with parents when their kid isn't like who they think they should be, they think it's a reflection on them,” Lauper tells Medina on the show.

“And ... a lot of ways that's your opportunity to step up and open your heart and understand you can't change the past, you can only change the present and the future,” she adds.

Lauper, a strong advocate for gay rights, goes on to give Medina an unexpected voice lesson. (A clip of the episode is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

The episode premieres Monday on cabler MTV at 4PM.
