America's first drag queen superstar RuPaul denies he's a gay icon as all-gay cabler Logo prepares on Monday to premiere the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

“As an icon?” RuPaul told celebrity website ShowBizSpy.com. “I probably am. That's none of my business. What other people think of me is none of my business.”

“I love that people enjoy what I do. That is such a blessing. I am such a fortunate, fortunate person and I'm so grateful for all the gifts I've been given,” he added, insisting he would be RuPaul whether “people dug it or not.”

RuPaul's outrageous reality show searches for America's next superstar drag queen.

Contestants on the show face a barrage of fashion-related and talent challenges in their quest to win a prize package that includes a headlining spot on Logo's Drag Race Tour, a lifetime supply of Kryolan Professional Make-up and a cash prize of $75,000.

Guest judges on the upcoming third season of the show include Fantasia, Carmen Electra, Margaret Cho and Johnny Weir.

Rocker Adam Lambert and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy alum Jai Rodriguez were among the stars at RuPaul's premiere party last week.
