Appearing Tuesday via satellite on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, gay icon Madonna said she can relate to kids who are bullied because they are gay.
“The concept that we are torturing teenagers because they are gay – it's unfathomable,” she told DeGeneres. “It's like lynching black people or Hitler exterminating Jews.”
The 4 Minutes singer went on to say that she can relate to feeling like an outcast.
“I still feel different,” she said. “I can totally relate to the idea of feeling isolated and alienated. I was incredibly lonely as a child, as a teenager. I have to say I never felt like I fit in in school.”
And the 52-year-old singer adored by millions added that she owes her career to the gay community.
The gay community “has been incredibly supportive of me.” “I wouldn't have a career if it weren't for the gay community.”
