Modern Family Producer Steven Levitan says the show's long-awaited gay kiss is coming, E! Online reported.

Over 13,000 fans of the show at the Facebook page Let Cam & Mitchell Kiss On Modern Family have been clamoring for an onscreen kiss between gay couple Cameron (played by Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (played by openly gay Jesse Tyler Ferguson) since the show's May 5 episode titled Airport 2010, in which Cameron and Mitchell were relegated to a hug after they argued while heterosexual couple Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) kissed and made up.

Levitan said Monday that the Cameron-Mitchell gay kiss is coming, and added that the controversy “bothered” producers who had planned a public display of affection episode all along.

“We've had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject of [affection between the gay characters],” Levitan said.

Ferguson attempted to tamp down expectations: “Don't expect a Gone With the Wind type of thing happening, I know the fans would like that.”

The men are expected to pucker up on the second season's fourth episode.

Modern Family returns to ABC on September 22.
