Thousands of Londoners attended a vigil in Soho, considered the heart of London's LGBT community, to remember the victims of Sunday's attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Described as the deadliest mass shooting on American soil, 49 people died and 53 were injured when a lone gunman with possible connections to ISIS opened fire.

Doctors on Tuesday said that it was very possible that the death count would rise as several victims clung to life.

β€œI think it could happen anywhere,” Michael told the AFP. β€œIt's happened before. At London Pride we had a lucky escape two or three years ago. So, we have to keep vigilant. And we have to make sure we're showing our solidarity for when this happens around the world.”

According to DigitalSpy, actor Andrew Garfield attended the event. Also in attendance were London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.
