Caitlyn Jenner and Chandi Moore call on viewers to stand up for transgender rights in a new video marking the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR).
The 60-second video was produced by OUT@NBCUniversal, the LGBT employee group at NBCUniversal, with help from GLAAD.
“Today, take a moment to learn about the women who've lost their lives to hate,” said Moore, a trans advocate who appeared on Jenner's reality series I Am Cait. “Tomorrow, please commit to making the world a safer place for all trans people.”
The PSA closes with a call to action from Jenner.
“Listen to trans people's stories, hire a trans person in your company, support a trans student at your school, love your trans child,” Jenner said. “Let's all take action to put an end to hate and violence.”
The Transgender Day of Remembrance – which takes place Friday – was founded in 1999 by graphic designer Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a day to remember the lives of transgender people who were murdered as a result of transphobia. The United States has seen at least 21 such murders this year.
