Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is vying to become the Democratic presidential nominee, will next month address the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest LGBT rights group.

The former secretary of state will speak to the organization on the morning of Saturday, October 3, ahead of HRC's 19th annual National Dinner in Washington D.C.

“Secretary Clinton is a tremendous advocate for equality and has been a tireless champion for the advancement of LGBT rights as human rights around the globe,” HRC President Chad Griffin said in announcing Clinton's appearance. “A visionary leader fighting for an America where everyone is treated with equal respect and dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, we’re thrilled Secretary Clinton will join us to discuss the challenges ahead in the fight for full federal equality.”

Clinton championed LGBT rights abroad while serving at the State Department. But her late endorsement of marriage equality, which came in 2013, has been criticized. During an interview last year with NPR, Clinton clashed with Fresh Air host Terry Gross on her evolution on the issue.
