Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has applauded Olympian Bruce Jenner's courage in coming out transgender.
In a two-hour ABC News special broadcast last week, Jenner told Diane Sawyer that he identifies as female.

“Wow,” DeGeneres said of the interview. “I think what he did was incredibly brave.”
“It took a lot of courage to do that,” she told her audience. “It's very hard to reveal what you've been hiding. I know there's been a lot of jokes. I think when people are uncomfortable and they don't understand something, that's how they deal with it, they make jokes. It's very childish and I think those people are poo poo heads. I do.”
“You have to admire someone who's willing to risk ridicule and tell the truth. I mean, it's so much easier to live your life keeping a secret, because we all want to fit in. … Let's face it, the world would be a nicer place if we focused on what we had in common instead of what makes us different. Because we all want the same thing: We want love, we want acceptance, and we want the new Apple watch.”
“I hope we can all learn to co-exist and stop judging each other,” DeGeneres added. “Less judging, more dancing.”
