Anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), believes “there is a huge movement on the Left” to “steal Christianity to make it pro-sin, pro-homosexuality.”

As evidence LaBarbera pointed to Christians who are opposed to allowing individuals and businesses to discriminate against gay people based on their religious beliefs.

Such a bill gained national attention before it was vetoed at the last minute by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican.

In commenting on the bill, columnist Kirsten Powers said that Jesus would bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.

“It's the progressive stealing of Christianity, now,” LaBarbera told Mission America Radio host Linda Harvey. “And I hope that Kirsten Powers is not going to go that route. She needs to understand what the Bible teaches about homosexuality. And there's no biblical rationale for Christianity that accommodates a sin, in this case homosexuality.”

Harvey agreed, saying that people are “sick and tired” of the gay rights movement: “There is no evidence homosexuality is inborn. It's a learned desire and behavior and so we just have to keep standing on that truth and we know tons of people agree.”
