John Lithgow and Alfred Molina play a gay couple that get married in the upcoming dramatic comedy Love Is Strange.

When Ben (played by Lithgow) and George (Molina) get married in Manhattan after 39 years together, Ben loses his job as a longtime choir director for a co-ed Catholic school. Friends and family come together to help the couple get back on their feet.

The film is directed by Ira Sachs.

“The consequences of this marriage is one of the men loses his job, and that sets off the rest of the events of the film,” Sachs told Variety.

“This is a sweet film, and I found two actors who, in a way, some of their best-known work has been playing gay men. Really, what I got was two of the best actors of their generation who responded emotionally to the story that was told,” Sachs added.

Marisa Tomei and Cheyenne Jackson also star in the film expected to debut next year.
