HBO's documentary series returns next month with films that take a look at the history of AmfAR and the death of gay teen Lawrence King.
The Battle of AmfAR documents how two very different women – Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor and research scientist Dr. Mathilde Krim – joined forces to create the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), America's first AIDS research foundation, forever changing the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Valentine Road takes a look at the heartbreaking circumstances that led to the shocking school shooting of 15-year-old Lawrence King.
On the morning of February 12, 2008, King was shot twice in the head during a computer class. He died in the hospital on Valentine's Day. His assailant was a classmate just 14 years old at the time. It is believed that King was shot because he was gay and either had a crush on Brandon McInerney or delighted in teasing the boy.
The Monday, October 7 premiere of Valentine Road will kick off the fall season of HBO Docs. (A trailer is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
