Just days before a gay marriage law went into effect in New Zealand, the singing trio of AnikaBoh&Hollie released a video in support of marriage equality.

Anika Moa, Boh Runga and Hollie Smith make up AnikaBoh&Hollie.

“We wanted to do something that would be a joyful celebration of same-sex marriage,” Hollie Smith told Stuff.co.nz. “The new laws in New Zealand prove that we're a progressive country that values human rights. Allowing people to love who they want is a fundamental human right.”

The video for the track Why Don' We features gay and lesbian couples and messages of supports such as “Love + Love = Love” and “Support Marriage Equality.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

“We're not a political group,” Anika Moa said, “we're just human beings who are happy to see this right extended to everyone in New Zealand.

“The song and the video are dedicated to all the people who have suffered for a long time without this right.”
