Conservative Pat Buchanan has compared Anthony Weiner's sexting scandal to Christine Quinn's marriage to another woman.

The 74-year-old Buchanan linked the increasing acceptance of gays and lesbians to Weiner's woes in his July 26 syndicated column.

Quinn, the current speaker of the New York City Council, and Weiner, a former congressman who resigned over a sexting scandal, are vying to be the Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City.

Last week, Weiner admitted to sending a woman sexually explicit photos and lewd messages as recently as last summer, a year after he vowed to reform himself. But Weiner, with his wife by his side, has resisted calls to withdraw from the race.

“Weiner's strongest challenger for mayor is a lesbian about to marry another lesbian [Quinn married last year],” Buchanan wrote.

“Are we, possibly, a mentally and morally sick society?”

“Upon what moral ground do we stand to deny a man many wives, should he wish to leave behind many children, and the wives all consent to the arrangement? Biblically and historically, polygamy was more acceptable than homosexuality.”

“The second is now a constitutional right. Why not the first?”

“Are we not indeed headed 'inevitably to utter irrationality and eventually political, as well as moral, chaos'?”

“Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Hillary Clinton marched in gay pride prides with the North American Man/Boy Love Association. Anyone doubt that NAMBLA will one day succeed in having the age of consent for sex between men and boys dropped into the middle or low teens?”
