Jarron Collins says it's a no brainer that he would support his twin brother's recent coming out.

Jarron and Jason played basketball together at Stanford before playing in the NBA. Jason, who is 8 minutes older, recently came out gay on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The brothers appeared together Wednesday on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live and discussed how Jason came out to Jarron

Jarron said he missed “red flags” about Jason, such as making excuses for why he wasn't interested in the women his brother and sister-in-law would set him up with on dates.

“He was very direct about it,” Jarron said. “He said, 'Jarron, I'm gay.' And I heard it but I didn't quite register it. And I went about asking some of the dumbest questions you could possible ask to someone who just told you that they're gay.”

Questions such as “Are you sure?” and “Since when?”

“He's my best friend and any time you come out to someone, you always have that apprehension that they're going to reject you, even though I knew that wasn't going to be the case,” Jason said.

“He's my twin brother, of course I was going to be supportive of him all the time,” Jarron said to a round of applause from the audience.

To avoid any confusion, Kimmel gave Jarron a T-shirt that read, “I'm the straight one.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
