Marlo Thomas is back on television in a guest role on the NBC comedy The New Normal.

Thomas plays Nancy Niles, a Los Angeles realtor to the stars who hires Jane (Played by Ellen Barkin). Thomas first appeared in the December 4 episode titled Baby Proofing.

In the show from Glee creator Ryan Murphy, David (Justin Bartha, The Hangover) and Bryan (Andrew Rannells, Broadway's Book of Mormon) begin their quest to start a family as Goldie (Georgia King) and her daughter escape the clutches of her overbearing and homophobic grandmother (Barkin) from small town Ohio to Los Angeles.

Thomas discussed her role in an appearance Wednesday on ABC's daytime talk show The View.

“I play Ellen's boss, I just hired her in that show,” she said, a reference to a clip played for the audience. “And I'm making her over, because she's [a] homophobe and she's a racist and all those things and I can make better. That's my job. And I fix her clothes, as well.”

She added that the role was “fun.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
