'We Are Young's' Fun To Hold Concert To Benefit Maine Gay Marriage

The pop-rock band fun – best known for their hit single We Are Young – will give a performance in support of gay marriage in Maine.

According Mainers United for Marriage, Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff will play a Halloween concern in Portland on October 31 and donate the proceeds to the campaign.

Gay marriage supporters are returning the issue to the ballot box after voters in 2009 narrowly repealed a marriage law approved by lawmakers with a “people's veto,” known as Question 1. If approved on November 6, Maine would become the first state to legalize such unions with a popular vote.

The band's performance six days before voters head to the polls will excite supporters, Mainers United for Marriage campaign manager Matt McTighe told the AP.

Fun's single We Are Young, which reached no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, is also being used in a gay marriage video released Wednesday by The Four 2012.
