Rugby star David Pocock last year announced he won't marry his fiancee Emma Palandri until Australia legalizes gay marriage.

The 24-year-old Western Force and Wallabies openside flanker has since continued to speak out in favor of marriage equality.

In a recent panel for the program Q and A, Pocock reiterated his vow not to marry until gay couples can, and argued that everyone deserves the right to marry.

“We're dealing with people here,” said Pocock. “And how can you blame someone for what they are? People don't choose their sexuality. We marginalize the LGBTI community for what they are. So I think this is a conversation that needs to be had, and we need to discuss it compassionately and actually come to something that's reasonable. And in my mind, that's marriage for everyone, regardless of their sexuality.”

Member of Parliament John Alexander said he would vote against marriage equality because his constituents oppose it. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
