Frank Sweeney, who appears on MTV's The Real World: San Diego, has joined the NOH8 Campaign, the silent protest which raises awareness and funds for gay rights causes, including ending California's 2008 voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.

The twenty-sixth season of the reality show – which returns to San Diego, host of the fourteenth season, which aired in 2004 – includes two openly LGBT housemates: lesbian Samantha “Sam” McGinn, 21, and bisexual Frank Sweeney, 22.

Sweeney's sexuality created a stir among his housemates.

“I hook up with like everybody,” Sweeney tells Nate Stodghill in an early episode of the San Diego season.

The NOH8 Campaign, which is helmed by photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley, photographs celebrities, politicians, professional athletes and everyday folks with their mouths duct taped and the campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on one cheek.

In his photo, Sweeney poses wearing a colorful bandana. In an alternate photo, Sweeney appears with cast member Alexandra “Alex” Govere, a 21-year-old woman who was raised in Zimbabwe and later relocated with her family to California.
