Christian conservative Franklin Graham
has criticized the coming out story of Marvel's Iceman.
In All-New X-Men #40 released
this week, readers learn that Bobby Drake is gay, making Iceman one
of Marvel comics' most prominent LGBT superheroes.
Graham, the son of evangelist Billy
Graham, heads the Billy Graham Evangelist Association and is a
staunch opponent of gay rights.
He condemned the Marvel storyline in a
Facebook post, calling it an effort to indoctrinate young people “to
accept this destructive lifestyle.”
“Today the Marvel comic character Ice
Man, from the 'X-Men' series, is coming out as gay,” Graham
wrote. “This is another attempt to indoctrinate our young
people to accept this destructive lifestyle. God's Word says
homosexuality is a sin, and we are to be on guard against all sin.
God calls us to repent, turn from our sins, and put our trust in His
Son Jesus Christ who died and rose again to pay the penalty for sin.”
