The gay romance film Weekend
starring Tom Cullen and Chris New opens Friday in New York.
The Andrew Haigh-directed film has won
over film festival audiences and film reviewers alike.
In the film, Russell (played by Tom
Cullen) randomly picks up Glen (Chris New), a struggling artist, at a
nightclub on a Friday. The pair unexpectedly spend most of the next
48 hours together – having sex, getting drunk and sharing stories.
The weekend resonates throughout their lives.
A. O. Scott of The New York Times
praised the film, “Perfectly realized – a bracing, present tense
exploration of sex, intimacy and love.” And LA
Weekly's Chuck Wilson called it a “likely classic and
not just a gay one.”
Producers of the film marked the film's
theatrical release at the IFC Center in New York with a new clip.
In the clip, Russell and Glen wander
through a carnival eating cotton candy as Glen recollects a story
about a school mate walking in on him as he is masturbating to a
naked Rupert Graves in A Room With View. (The video is
