The Michelangelo Signorile Show plans
to host a gay presidential caucus on Thursday January 31st.
Press reports indicate the program will include representatives and
supporters for Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards. The
panel will share their candidate's platforms and views, take
questions from callers, and engage in an open dialog with the show's
national audience.
Host Michelangelo Signorile has often
found himself at the center of controversy for outing politicians and
celebrities. Signorile is the author of four gay related books:
Queer in America, Life Outside, Outing Yourself,
and Hitting Hard. In his latest book Hitting Hard
Signorile has published a collection of essays and columns, many
of which originally appeared in the Advocate. Controversial topics in the book include: Attacking the new Pope for his anti-gay stance
and revealing conservative pundit Andrew Sullivan's bareback sex
hypocrisy.
For the LGBT caucus national
personalities will represent each Democratic nominee. Hilary Rosen
of OurChart.com will support Senator Clinton. Rosen is an active
public speaker, and a regular on-air political and business
commentator on national television. Representing Senator Obama is
Stampp Corbin who is the National LGBT Liaison for the Obama campaign
and served on The Board of Directors of the Human Rights Campaign
from 1996-2003. Eric Stern will represent Senator Edwards. Stern is
a political advisor to the John Edwards for President Campaign. In
2004 Stern served as the Director of LGBT Outreach at the Democratic
National Committee.
The popular talk show is carried on
SIRIUS satellite radio on the OutQ channel (109) weekdays. OutQ is
the nation's only 24/7 LGBT radio channel. The two hour long caucus
is set to air from 3:00 to 5:00 pm ET.
