Ryan Rottman has joined Glee's Cory Monteith and The Kids Are All Right's Josh Hutcherson in recording an anti-homophobia PSA.

Rottman is set to play out-and-proud activist Shane on season 4 of the CW's nighttime teenage drama 90210.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the former TeenNick star will play a “smart, handsome gay 20-something who is confident in his identity and is committed to fighting for marriage equality.”

In June, before it was known that Rottman would be taking on a gay role, he recorded a video for Avan Jogia's Straight But Not Narrow campaign.

“There's a million reasons why you shouldn't be friends with someone except for them being gay,” Rottman says in his one-minute-twenty-three-second video. “They may be straight, may be gay, may be in between, just don't be narrow minded.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

Rottman joins Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, and 18-year-old Josh Hutcherson, a co-star of the lesbian moms film The Kids Are All Right, in recording a PSA for the campaign.
