Darren Criss, who plays out-and-proud
Blaine Anderson on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, and gay icon
Gloria Gaynor will be at this weekend's Northalsted Market Days –
often described as Chicago's Gay Pride festival.
The 30th annual event offers
2 days of entertainment, food and arts and crafts along six North
Halsted blocks between Belmont and Addison in Chicago's gay
neighborhood Boystown. Northalsted Market Days is considered the
largest street fair in the Midwest.
Criss will take the stage on Saturday,
the festival's opening day, at 4:30PM on the Rivers Casino Stage
located at Addison and North Halsted. Disco diva Gloria Gaynor will
perform on the same stage on Sunday night at 8PM.
The 24-year-old Criss moved his theater
troupe StarKid to Chicago from the University of Michigan last year.
Criss starred in the group's 2009 YouTube viral video A Very
Potter Musical.
More
than 30 additional artists will perform on the festival's four
stages, including Tom Hadley of Spandau Ballet, American
Idol's Frenchie Davis and power-pop band Dot Dot Dot – who
reached a top five spot on Fox's The Next Great American Band
in 2007.
