Singer Lady Gaga has agreed to marry a
lesbian couple.
The 25-year-old singer congratulated
New York on becoming the sixth state to legalize gay marriage and
cheered the final 60 days of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” which ends
on September 20, during a recent visit with radio jock JoJo Wright.
The openly
bisexual, Born this Way singer is a vocal gay rights
supporter.
“The wonderful thing is it's under 60
days now before the final end of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' which is
really very exciting. And there is now marriage equality in New
York. I just think for myself as an activist it's always about being
positive and honoring and being excited about the small steps that
are taken toward equality.”
“I'm excited about the things that
are happening and I'm going to continue to band together with all my
friends and with my generation to continue to fight for our rights,”
she said.
“Would you consider becoming an
ordained minister to marry some of your friends?” Wilson asked.
“I'm actually going to,” Lady Gaga
replied. “My yoga instructor Tricia [Donegan] is a lesbian and she
lives with her partner for years now, and they have a beautiful
daughter. And [they] asked me to marry them.”
“So, yes, I'm going to,” she added.
“What's the time-date on that? Are
we going to see it online?” Wilson asked.
“No, no,” Lady Gaga said. “It's
their private wedding.” (The video is embedded in the right panel
