The Christian conservative group the
Family Research Council (FRC) has Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's
back, RightWingWatch.org
reported.
Lamenting the media “assault” on
Christian counseling, the FRC prays for the Bachmann family's clinic,
which is run by the lawmaker's husband Marcus Bachmann. Bachmann
& Associates has been under fire for allegations the counseling
center seeks to “cure” gay people through the
controversial and discredited pseudo-science called “reparative”
therapy.
“Sympathetic national media seemed
shocked that the Christian counseling center offered help for
homosexuals to break free from addiction to homosexuality through
faith in Jesus Christ,” FRC noted. “Where will the homosexual
assault on religious liberty stop?”
The group also added support for the
Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the 1996 law that bars federal
agencies from recognizing the legal marriages of gay couples, and
“Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” the on-again off-again (currently
off) policy that bans gay and bisexual troops from serving
openly, in its latest prayer.
“May God open the eyes of all
Americans to the truth regarding natural marriage and sexuality vs.
homosexuality as well as homosexual rights vs. religious liberty.
May officials at every level stand up for natural marriage and
sexuality. May the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and state marriage
amendments be upheld in the courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
May our military men be protected from the introduction of
homosexuality into their ranks. May we all stand up for our First
Amendment freedoms!”
