The Voice is going on tour, with
Vicci Martinez, Beverly McClellan and Nakia Reynoso, its three openly
gay finalists, on board.
Nakia, who goes by his first name, was
eliminated from the vocal contest last week after he belted out a
powerful and emotional rendition of Adam Lambert's Whataya Want
From Me?
According
to Entertainment Weekly,
the show's top eight contestants will be included in the tour. Not
joining them on the road will be their celebrity coaches – Adam
Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton.
Levine stirred up
controversy among Lambert fans when he said that Nakia's version
trumped the original, which he admitted he had never heard.
“Wow! Hey man,
I'm actually not familiar with that song, but you just forced me to
like it, that's pretty cool,” Levine told Nakia on the show.
After fans came to
his defense, and Levine defended himself – “I thought that @nakia
made me like a song that would have otherwise fallen flat. I'm NOT
sorry,” he messaged on Twitter – Lambert tweeted, “Thanks for
being protective but it's all good.”
Martinez
and McClellan are among the four finalists competing for the show's
$100,00 prize and a recording contract. The Voice
concludes on Wednesday.
