Max Adler, who plays closeted bully
Dave Karofsky on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, says a romance
with Chris Colfer, who plays gay McKinley High student Kurt Hummel,
is still possible for season 3.
Karofsky endlessly tormented Kurt
during the show's first season. But in the show's second season,
Karofsky's inner conflict drove him to test the waters with Kurt and
plant a kiss on him during an altercation in the boy's locker room.
In the season's final chapters, Kurt implored Karofsky to come out at
the school prom, which he refused to do.
After the kiss, it appeared as if
Karofsky and Kurt might be headed for romance, but Kurt found love
instead with Warblers lead vocalist Blaine Anderson, played by Darren
Criss.
In
a recent interview with gay glossy The
Advocate, Adler, 25, said romance between the pair remained a
possibility.
“I can see Karofsky developing
feelings for Kurt in the future, and there could possibly be a love
story there, because that's certainly not out of the cards,” Adler
said.
He added that curiosity motivated his
character to kiss Kurt: “[A]t that point, Kurt was the only person
he's ever known who's actually gay and out, so he just needed to see
what it would feel like – what a man's lips feel and taste like.
It was a curiosity kiss, and we'll see if anything develops from
that.”
