Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has
praised her gay fans for their loyalty.
In an interview with news service
Reuters, Minogue said the U.S. leg of her world tour to promote her
11th studio album Aphrodite was a success thanks to
her gay fan base.
“Europe and Australia and all the
territories I guess I'm more of a household name,” Minogue said.
She then gestured as to model an invisible product and joked:
“Actually made myself sound like a detergent then. I know: new and
improved.”
“I think here, my core fan base has
been my gay audience,” she added. “They've really been with me
through thick and thin. Yeah, they are the ones who've been raising
the roof each night of the show.” (The video is embedded in the

The 43-year-old Minogue is a
certifiable gay icon who earned her status by performing at Gay Pride
parades and supporting gay-related causes.
She wrapped up the North American leg
of her world tour with a performance at The Colosseum at Caesars
Palace in Las Vegas last month. The 76-city tour ends on July 14 in
Cape Town, South Africa.
