The current issue of UK gay glossy
Attitude features English cricketer Steven Davies and Swedish
footballer (European soccer) Anton Hysen.
Hysen's photo graces the back cover of
the double issue, while Davies is featured on the front cover.
Davies came out gay last February,
Hysen the following month. They are among the few European athletes
who have publicly outed themselves during their careers.
Hysen told the magazine that he didn't
think that being open about his sexuality was a big deal.
“I really don't think it's a big
thing,” said Hysen, the son of former Liverpool defender Gleen
Hysen. “I mean, of course, it's brave but why should it be brave?”
“Maybe I'm stupid but it's just so
normal for me because I'm so secure with myself and my family,” the
20-year-old Utsiktens BK player added. “But I see it's big for
others and that it's been taboo in football. That's sad. Where are
all the others?''
Davies, 24, suggested being closeted
had been difficult for him, saying coming out had been a “massive
relief.”
“Everyone knows now, there are no
secrets, and I can just get on and live the way I want to live,”
Davies said.
He added that he's single and
available: “I'm in no rush, but if that person came along that
would be great.”
