An upcoming episode of the crime drama
Law & Order: Criminal Intent is set to feature Sex and
the City 2 co-star Cynthia Nixon.
According
to Michael Ausiello's all-things-television website TVLine.com,
Nixon will appear on the series' tenth and possibly final season that
premiered Sunday on cabler USA Network.
Nixon will play Amanda Reese, a
larger-than-life Broadway director attempting to stage a technically
ambitious play called Icarus. The role is loosely based on
Director Julie Taymor and her troubled production of the Broadway
musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, which
has been plagued by delays and safety issues.
Reese and musical producer Arno become
murder suspects after the death of an actor on stage. Rock star
Bono, who collaborated with Taymor on the musical score for her
production, is most likely the inspiration behind Arno's character.
Lesbian
entertainment website AfterEllen.com is reporting that in the
episode Arno is caught cheating on his wife with – most likely –
a male colleague.
Nixon won a Guest Star Emmy in 2007 for
playing a woman with multiple personalities on NBC's Law &
Order: Special Victims Unit.
