Actress Rita Wilson gushes over Tom
Ford in TIME 100 profile.
Ford and Glee
actor Chris Colfer are the two openly gay men on the newsweekly's
list of the most influential people in the world. (Also making the
cut are Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and House Speaker
John Boehner, opponents of gay rights.)
The fashion designer turned filmmaker –
he directed Colin Firth in A Single Man to his first Oscar
nomination – and his partner of 24 years, Richard Buckley, graced
the cover of gay glossy Out's love issue, and Ford
recently told celebrity glossy Interview that he prefers to be
nude: “I eat naked. I do everything completely naked.”
But if you're in need of more details
about the man behind the fashion brand he named after himself, then
Wilson's
profile will prove satisfying.
Tom Ford is the “other Tom (after my
husband Mr. Hanks) whose shoulder I can also cry on, who makes me
laugh as hard as my main Tom.”
He's a “closet comedian” that
Skypes from his bed, and he's loyal: “Friendships are his other
art. No flip-flopping. No fly by night.”
“Tom might be one of the TIME 100,
but to me he is one in a million,” Wilson writes.
