Pop singer Lady Gaga is seen
confronting a critic who says she's going to hell for supporting gay
rights in her latest YouTube video diary update.
Last year, Lady Gaga helmed a
one-celebrity campaign to repeal “Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” the
Clinton-era law that bans gay and bisexual troops from serving
openly. She
recently backed out of an exclusive deal with retail giant Target
over gay rights. And this week, the singer announced she would
donate
a portion of the proceeds from the country remix of her gay anthem
Born This Way to gay group GLSEN.
In the video, the outspoken gay rights
supporter is seen confronting the critic who is demonstrating outside
of one of her shows holding a sign that reads, “Trust in Christ or
end in hell!”
When Lady Gaga introduces herself from
inside her car, the man responds, “So?”
“Yeah, that's going to happen one
day, darling,” the man says as he hands her a get out of hell free
card.
“Well, they better open up the
gates,” Lady Gaga responds.
“I'm listening,” she adds. “You
know we really believe in God at my show.”
“Well, your pervert ways don't quite
equate to what God is all about ...”
“My pervert ways?” Lady Gaga
interrupts.
“Yeah, you know, the homo stuff,”
he responds. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this
