America's first drag queen superstar
RuPaul says Annette Bening was robbed of her Oscar.
Bening's performance as a lesbian
mother trying to keep her family together in The Kids Are All
Right lost the Best Actress Oscar to Natalie Portman's portrayal
of a lesbian ballerina in Director Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.
RuPaul's outrageous reality show
RuPaul's Drag Race, which
airs on all-gay cabler Logo, searches for America's next
superstar drag queen.
In
an interview with New York Magazine, RuPaul said he
believes his show is too risky for Emmy consideration.
“As you well know, it's about
politics, I understood that!” RuPaul said. “Actually, at
breakfast this morning, I was talking about how Annette Bening must
be so angry right now. She was fucking robbed!”
“Oh, she knows, she understands it.
But at some point, you have to say to yourself, 'Fuck these bitches!'
It's ridiculous.”
“That's what it is. So I would hope
that Annette Bening understands it, and Emmy shmemmy. You
know what, I've been around, and I've been doing this for 29 years.
Whether I won Best Afro or not, I've prevailed,” RuPaul added.
