The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus along
with the Columbus Children's Choir performed Christina Aguilera's
Beautiful in a video for the It
Gets Better campaign.
In the video, Timothy Sarsany, the
artistic director of the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, dedicates the
performance to The
Trevor Project, the California-based organization centered on
crisis and suicide prevention efforts for gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) youth. The non-profit runs the nation's only
24-hour, toll free confidential suicide prevention hotline for gay
and questioning youth.
“We would like to offer you an encore
this evening,” Sarsany tells his audience. “The Trevor Project
and their It Gets Better campaign reaches out to youth struggling
with bullying over their sexuality and their perceived sexuality.”
“The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus can
think of no better way to contribute to this campaign than to combine
with the Columbus Children's Choir creating a video contribution to
It Gets Better campaign with Christina Aguilera's Beautiful.”
“Whatever issues our youth are
struggling with today, we say to them to hold on and it does get
better,” Sarsany adds. (The video is embedded in the right panel
