Comedian Bill Maher agrees with
Victoria Jackson's assertion that the Fox musical-comedy Glee
is “shoving the gay thing down our throats.”
In an op-ed and subsequent television
appearances, the former Saturday Night Live cast member railed
against a
kiss between Darren Criss and Chris Colfer on Glee.
She
wrote that the kiss “sickened” her.
While taking aim at Democrats, most
notably President Barack Obama, for not backing gay marriage, Maher
went on to agree with Jackson's comment.
From Friday night's edition of Real
Time with Bill Maher: “Recently
Victoria Jackson, the oldest surviving member of Saturday
Night Live, said the show Glee
is 'shoving the gay thing down
our throats.' Now, besides being the first funny thing she's said in
25 years, that is true. They are shoving the gay thing down
America's throat. And it turns out America got used to it
surprisingly quickly.”
Maher went on to
attack Republicans, who also like to shove things down America's
throat.
“Unlike the
Democrats, when Republicans believe in things that the public
doesn't, their response is 'fuck it, we'll make them believe,'”
Maher said. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)
Last
week, shock
jock Howard Stern said he felt Jackson was saying God is anti-gay.
