90210 newcomer Freddie Smith,
who plays Marco, the current romantic interest of Trevor Donovan's
gay character on the
nighttime teenage drama, has posed for the NOH8 Campaign,
which raises awareness and funds to end Proposition 8, California's
gay marriage ban.
The NOH8 Campaign, which is helmed by
photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley,
photographs celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct
taped and the campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on
one cheek.
In
a recent interview with gay male entertainment website
AfterElton.com, Smith explained how he became involved in the
campaign.
“My publicist called me and told me
about the NOH8 Campaign and I said absolutely and I did a photo
shoot,” Smith said. “I'm still really excited to see how it all
turned out and it's a great campaign and the guy doing it was super
nice and I was happy to be a part of it.”
The
campaign received a huge boost in January when NCIS
star Pauley Perrette wore a strapless dress that featured the NOH8
Campaign's logo to the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
