Two more celebrities have joined Brad
Pitt and Angelina Jolie in vowing to remain unwed until marriage
equality is achieved.
Singer Jason Mraz told Us
magazine that he won't be making fiance Tristan Prettyman his bride
until gay marriage becomes legal.
“We both feel that in our engagement,
we have a union that's really special and can't be broken. It's a
sacred bond.”
“The wedding would be nice for our
family, our friends, our community – our moms especially – and so
it puts us in the fight,” he added. “We can't get married until
[gay] marriage is legal and equal. … I think giving people the
right to marry will be a huge movement in civil rights.”
The
33-year-old crooner was spotted last week attending Elton John's
concert to support gay rights group AFER.
Full House alum Jodie Sweetin,
who recently became engaged to Morty Coyle, agreed.
“We are in no hurry as far as dates
or anything like that,” she told People magazine. “We
want to wait until there's equality for everybody to get married.”
