Los Angeles-based group The
Pop Luck Club has launched a marketing campaign that encourages
support for gay dads.
The group's Raise a Child campaign
includes ads on transit shelters throughout the Los Angeles area, a
30-second radio PSA, and Internet-based ads.
In one print ad, a small child stands
on the shoulders of two men.
“The Pop Luck Club is the largest
known gay fathers organization in the world, with hundreds of member
families and strong continued growth,” the group's website says.
“As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, the mission of The
Pop Luck Club is to advance the well being of gay prospective
parents, gay parents and their children. We do this through mutual
support, community collaboration, and public understanding.”
The Raise a Child campaign is designed
to increase traffic to the group's website and grow its membership
base, the group announced in its winter newsletter.
“With this campaign, we are putting a
real face on gay parenting,” Richard Valenza, the group's
co-president, said in a statement announcing the January-February
campaign.
