Singer Ricky Martin says he's ready to
adopt a child.
Martin is returning to the spotlight
after taking a break from his career to devote time to his twin boys
Valentino and Matteo, who were born via surrogacy.
The Livin' la Vida Loca singer
used his coming out gay announcement to promote his memoir, titled
Me, and an upcoming studio album.
In an interview on the Oprah Winfrey
Show, he
told Winfrey that holding his sons in his arms gave him the courage
to come out of the closet.
Martin, who celebrates his 39th
birthday on Friday, told
Extra that he's ready for more children.
“Adoption is beautiful – give it a
try,” he said. “Even though I started with surrogacy, adoption
is probably my next step.”
Martin added that he's looking forward
to sharing Christmas with his sons.
“Now it's not about me, it's about my
children. The holidays are for them. I guess I'll get up early in
the morning – they're only two years old so I'm teaching them what
the holidays are all about. This is really their first Christmas so
let's wait and see.”
